Zorica Jekic who was speaking on the sidelines of the first Conference on Commercial Opportunities between Iran and Serbia, added in an exclusive interview with the Islamic republic news agency, "Thanks to its appropriate geographical status, Serbia can also play an excellent role as a business partner between Iran and the European Union."
She added, "The Serbian merchants and businessmen are interested in expansion of economic and cultural ties with the friendly country of Iran and holding such meetings play and effective role in strengthening such ties."
She evaluated the process of Iran-Serbia economic relations as "positive and still growing", adding, "A contract worth two billion US dollars has been signed for imports of Iranian cars that is being implemented now."
The top Serbian economic advisor added, "Expansion and development of political and diplomatic relations, too, is a vital factor leading to broader economic ties, and therefore, they need to grow accordingly and more than before."
Referring to the high economic potentials of the Central Province, she said, "Presently Serbia is cooperating satisfactorily with this province, importing raisins, polymer sheets, industrial stones and food products from Iran's Central Province."
The head of Serbia's Chamber of Commerce expressed her country's interest in expansion of business and commercial relations with Central Province in various fields, particularly imports of meat products, paper, agricultural products and machinery spare parts from here.
According to published statistics by Central Province Governorate, the average annual volume of Iran-Serbia trade during the course of the past five years has been around ten million US dollars.
Meanwhile, the volume of Central Province trade with Serbia in past three years has been over 872 thousand US dollars, out of which the Central Province's share has been exporting goods worth 536.000 dollars and Serbia's share has been exporting 336.000 dollars.
