Iran Ranks 3rd in Asian Wushu Championship

TEHRAN (FNA)- Iranian wushu team ranked third in the 5th Asian Junior Wushu Championships in Macau.



Iranian athletes -- girls and boys -- snatched 16 medals in Sanshou (weapons form) and Taolu (bare-handed free-form fighting) during the two-day competitions.

Iranian 17-member wushu team bagged six gold, one silver and nine bronze medals.

The Fifth Asian Junior Wushu Championships held in Macau, China, on June 8-9, the Islamic republic news agency reported.

Several athletes from different Asian countries took part in the event.

Wushu is a modern exhibition and full-contact sport based on traditional Chinese martial arts.
