Iranian Wrestler Wins Gold in Asian Championship

TEHRAN (FNA)- Iran's Greco-Roman wrestling team won a gold and a bronze medal in the first day of the Asian Championship in Thailand.



In the 74kg category, Farshad Alizadeh beat South Korea's Hee-Bok Kang to claim Iran's first gold medal in the competition and Mohammad Faqiri won a bronze medal in the 55kg category.

Iranian wrestlers Hamid Bavafa and Saeid Abdevali failed to place in the 60kg and 66kg categories.

The wrestling matches for the 84kg, 96kg and 120kg categories will be held on Sunday, press tv reported.

First day gold winners

55kg: Kohei Hasegawa (JPN)
60kg: Feihu Wan (CHN)
66kg: Darkhan Bayakhmetov (KAZ)
74kg: Farshad Alizadeh (IRI)
