Iran to Play Friendly against Indonesia

TEHRAN (FNA)- Iran's national soccer squad is scheduled to play a friendly match against Indonesia, the Iranian Football Federation (IFF) announced.

"Iran will play a friendly against Indonesia at Tehran's Azadi Stadium on May 26," Mehdi Taj, IFF assistant director, said on Thursday.

"Iran's friendly against Thailand was called off as the country's football federation officials announced that they will be busy with their league on May 26. Therefore, we replaced Thailand with Indonesia," he added, press tv reported.

The IFF assistant director also pointed out that the Iranian squad is in excellent condition.

Iran is in Group B of the 2010 World Cup qualifiers, along with Saudi Arabia, South Korea, the UAE and North Korea.

Among Iran's three remaining qualifiers two are away games against South and North Korea, currently in the first and second slots of Group B of the World Cup qualifiers.

South Korea leads the group on 11 points, one point ahead of North Korea and Saudi Arabia. Iran is placed fourth with six points, while the UAE is at the bottom of the group with just one point.
