TEHRAN (FNA)- Iran qualified for the quarterfinals of the 25th FIBA Asian Men's Basketball Championships underway in Tianjin, China.
The Iranian side topped Group E after beating South Korea 82-66 in its sixth consecutive win of the event on Wednesday night.
The Iranian outfit defeated Chinese Taipei, Uzbekistan and Kuwait in the first round and continued its flawless reign with victories over Japan and the Philippines in the second round, press tv reported.
Iran, under Serbian coach Veselin Matic, is scheduled to play Qatar in the quarterfinals on Friday.
Sixteen Asian teams have taken part in the 25th FIBA Asian Men's Basketball Championships, which began on August 6 and ends August 16.
The first three teams of the event will qualify for the World Basketball Championship in Turkey in 2010.
