Senior MP Terms Presence of Aliens in Afghanistan Source of Problems

TEHRAN (FNA)- The presence of international forces in Afghanistan has not helped to the settlement of issues in the country and has been transformed into the source of problems for Afghan people, a prominent Iranian legislator said.

The Head of Iran's Parliament National Security and Foreign Policy Commission Alaeddin Boroujerdi in a meeting with the Head of Afghan Parliament anti-drug commission, said drug cultivation and trafficking in Afghanistan have been raised by four percent since foreign forces' have entered the country.

"Unfortunately, the UK as responsible for fighting drug in Afghanistan has paved the way for rise of drug cultivation and smuggling through taking wrong decisions on fighting the spread of poppy cultivation in Afghanistan."

He added Iran has always sought support for Afghanistan's central government and peace in the country.

The Head of Afghan Parliament anti-drug commission for his part appreciated Iran's measures for backing Afghan people as well as training Afghan police and security forces.
