Bodies of 2 Missing Iranian Passengers Found in Southern Waters
TEHRAN (FNA)- The bodies of two missing Iranian passengers, who were onboard a cruise ship when the vessel went down in Genaveh port in the southern province of Bushehr, were recovered 12km away from the site.
The director of the Red Crescent Society in Genaveh, Mahmoud Safaie, said search teams had spotted the two bodies from above and ships were dispatched to recover them.
The bodies were found about 12 kilometers (7 miles) from the site where the cruise ship sank due to a series of punctures in her hull caused by rough seas.
The vessel, with 25 passengers and crewmembers aboard, was en route from Khark Island to the port of Genaveh when it sank on October 30 off the coast of the Persian Gulf.
At the time of the incident, one fatality was reported and three were announced as missing. The remaining 21 people were rescued by nearby fishing boats. The body of one of the three missing individuals had earlier been recovered.
