Jalili: Iran-Syria Ties Strategic

TEHRAN (FNA)- Secretary of Iran's Supreme National Security Council Saeed Jalili in a meeting with Syrian Foreign Minister Walid Mualem called Tehran-Damascus ties strategic.



During the meeting, Jalili also reiterated that the two countries must take "the initiation to be the axis of more constructive relations in the region."

"Common interests and threats require regional countries to make a more serious move to form regional and strategic ties," he was qouted by the Iranian students news agency as saying.

Mualem, for his part, said, "Indeed, regional countries are engineers of a new Middle East and do not need instructions of cross-regional powers in this regard."
