Cannes Awards Bahman Qobadi Film

TEHRAN (FNA)- Iranian filmmaker Bahman Qobadi's latest production received the Special Prize Un Certain Regard of the 2009 Cannes Film Festival.



No One Knows About Persian Cats won the award with Father of My Children by French filmmaker Mia Hansen Love.

Qobadi's new feature-length production has been filmed by SI-2K camera and is the second film to win him a Cannes award. His first feature-length film A Time for Drunken Horses (2000) won the festival's Caméra d'Or.

One of the most renowned figures of new wave Iranian cinema, Bahman Qobadi has also won the Glass Bear and Peace Film Awards of the Berlin International Film Festival, press tv reported.

The World Economic Forum chose him as one of the Young Global Leaders of 2008 for his cinematic accomplishments, commitment to society and potential to work toward a better future for the world.

Turtles Can Fly, Half Moon and Marooned in Iraq are among his best-known works.

The 2009 Cannes International Film Festival was held from May 13 to 24.
