Iranian Documentary Wins Hamburg Film Fest Award

TEHRAN (FNA)- 'Wooden Carpet', a 19-minute documentary by Iranian director, Abdul Rahman Mirani won Jury Special Award of the Hamburg International Short Film Festival.

Mirani's film won the 1500-euro Francois Ode Award in competition with some 400 films from 40 countries.

The Wooden Carpet is the story of the people living at the Iran-Iraq border, who work hard to reconstruct a bridge destroyed by a catastrophic flood.

The François Ode Award goes to a film that in a poetic way tells a story of a seemingly impossible task being accomplished through a Herculean shared effort of an entire community.

The festival also screened Iran's Old Men Do Not Die by Reza Jamali and Dad Gave Water by Mehdi Jafari.

The 25th Hamburg International Short Film Festival was held from June 2 to 8, 2009 in Germany.
