IFF Opposes MPs Involvement in Football

TEHRAN (FNA)- Iran's Football Federation (IFF) Vice President Mehdi Taj said that the IFF disagrees with Parliament Members' involvement in the country's football affairs.

Taj made the remark after the IFF President Ali Kafashian held a meeting with the head of the parliament's football committee Meqdad Najafnejad on Sunday.

"We are responsible to answer people and the Members of Parliament, but oppose the MPs' involvement in the administrative affairs in the country's football, that is, to decide about the federation's managers," Taj said, press tv reported.

"The IFF and Parliament are both for the country's football achievements, but the most important thing is privatization, which is being interfered with by parliament," he added.

According to Taj, a meeting will be held in the near future to review the past, present and future of the administration of Iranian football at the national level.

Meanwhile, Taj referred to the MPs who criticized the football federation in the past few days and said, "We will also have a meeting with these MPs to solve all the problems. We believe that they are not after fundamental changes in the IFF."

"The parliament's Sports Committee and especially the Football Committee have devised inspiring programs for the future," he concluded.
