Iranian Navy Commander Meets Omani Military Delegation
TEHRAN (FNA)- Commander of the Iranian Army's Navy Rear Admiral Habibollah Sayyari held a meeting with a visiting Omani military delegation and discussed different aspects of mutual cooperation.
During the meeting, Sayyari referred to the joint relief and rescue exercises due to be conducted in the next few days in Iran's southern port city of Bandar Abbas, and said the exercises could serve as a platform for staging joint military wargames by the two countries.
Elsewhere, he pointed to the strategic position of the Straight of Hormoz, and called on the regional countries to cooperate in the establishment of security, order and stability in the region.
"The regional countries are themselves capable of establishing security in the region and there is no need for the presence of the aliens in the Persian Gulf and the Oman Sea waters under the pretext of establishing security," he stressed.
The Omani side, for its part, underlined the resolve of the Arab country's leaders to develop cooperation with Iran and strengthen military ties between the two countries' armed forces, their naval troops in particular.
The Omani delegation further expressed the hope that the regional countries would come to a collective agreement on security arrangements for the region at the earliest.
