"This (defensive) power serves peace, stability and tranquility in the region," Vahidi said in a meeting with a visiting Omani military delegation.
"The enemies are trying to portray Iran's military might as a threat to the regional states, while our stance and attitude towards transferring such capabilities to other regional states proves otherwise," Vahidi noted.
Reminding the geopolitical importance of the Persian Gulf and the Oman Sea, the minister said that cooperation among regional states, specially in the field of defense, is an important constituent of security and stability in the region.
Commenting on Iran-Oman relations, Vahidi said, "We should try to further promote the level of ties."
The first round of the eighth meeting of Iran-Oman defense friendship committee was held here in Tehran on Sunday.
During the meeting, the head of Omani delegation, General Rashed Bin Sif Mohsen al-Shaidi, praised Iran's defense capabilities and said, "Iran and Oman are neighbors and underline expansion of military cooperation within the resolve of the two countries' leaders."
