Commander: Navy Bears Strategic Importance

TEHRAN (FNA)- Commander of the Iranian Army's Navy Rear Admiral Habibollah Sayyari on Sunday underlined the power of his forces, reminding the importance of a powerful naval force for the security as well as growth and development of any country.

"Sea is the main scene for future development even in the military field. We should enjoy a powerful navy for good trade, which will be our strategic force," Sayyari told FNA on the occasion of November 28, i.e. the 'Navy Day'.

He pointed to the Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyed Ali Khamenei's remarks about the Navy, and said, "The Commander-in-Chief of Armed Forces (Ayatollah Khamenei) said that the Navy must be viewed as a strategic force."

He praised the Leader's strong knowledge of the Armed Forces' strategies, and said that all the current developments underway in the country's Navy were initiated at the direct order of the Supreme Leader.

The commander noted that the Supreme Leader is well aware that future threats to Iran will be sea-based while sea waters play a crucial role in the country's growth and development.

Sayyari underlined that Ayatollah Khamenei knows how to safeguard the country's interests and resources, and that's the reason why he attaches so much importance to the role of the country's naval forces.
