Iran to Publish Book on Persian Poetry

TEHRAN (FNA)- Iran plans to publish a book in a bid to introduce 30 pieces of poetry by Iranian and foreign poets during an international conference due to be held in the country on April 17-21.



The conference is scheduled to be held in Tehran and cities of Persian literature, Isfahan and Shiraz, on April 17-21.

51 foreign poets from various countries, including Iran, Albania, Armenia, Afghanistan, Bulgaria, Bangladesh, Pakistan, Peru, Tajikistan, China, Russia, Romania, Sri Lanka, Denmark, the Netherlands, Oman, Jordan, Indonesia, Uruguay, Turkey, Sudan, Syria, the Philippines, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Qatar, Kalmykia, Iraqi Kurdistan, Kenya, Lebanon, India and Greece are due to attend the international event.

"The book has been compiled and will be published in two languages of Persian and English," Secretary of the 1st Conference on Poets of Iran and World Mousa Bidaj said.

"The selection was carried out under supervision of the poetry council at Iran's Ministry of Culture and Islamic Guidance," Bidaj said.

"A total number of 30 pieces of poetry selected for the book will hopefully introduce Iran's contemporary poetry to the literary figures due to participate in the conference," he concluded said.
