Culture Minister to Represent Iran at SCO Meeting

TEHRAN (FNA)- Iranian Minister of Culture and Islamic Guidance Mohammad Hosseini is due to represent Tehran at the 17th meeting of the culture ministers of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) in China.



The minister and his accompanying delegation were welcomed by a group of officials from China's Ministry of Culture and Iran embassy officials upon arrival at Beijing International Airport on Thursday.

The 17th meeting of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) Ministers of Culture will start in Sanya resort in Hainan Province south of China on Saturday.

China, Kazakhstan, Tajikistan, Kyrgyzstan, Russia and Uzbekistan are the six main members of the SCO and the Islamic Republic of Iran, India, Pakistan and Mongolia are the supervising members of the Organization.

While in China, Iranian Minister will meet his counterparts, especially Chinese Minister of Culture Cai Wu.

During his five-day stay, Hosseini will also meet university lecturers of Persian language and a number of academics and men of culture.

Besides meeting Iranian Embassy officials and staff, the Iranian minister will also give a press conference.
