"The visit will be paid at an invitation extended by the Islamic Republic of Iran's president and with the aim of attending Iran's Nowrouz ceremonies," Tajik Foreign Ministry's Press Official Dowlat Nazriov told FNA on Wednesday.
According to an agreement held by the three Persian-language neighboring countries of Iran, Afghanistan and Tajikistan, the foreign ministers of these states have attended the Nowrouz ceremonies of the two other countries in the last few years, Nazirov added.
"But at the initiative of the Islamic Republic of Iran and after the UN General Assembly introduced the Nowrouz ceremonies as a global festivity, the three heads of state have been invited to attend this year's Nowrouz ceremonies," he reiterated.
According to Nazirov, the Iranian, Afghan and Tajik presidents are scheduled to attend the Nowrouz ceremonies in Tehran and the southern city of Shiraz in Iran.
He further announced that the high-ranking officials of the three countries will also hold negotiations on the development of trilateral and regional cooperation during the two-day visit of the Tajik president to Iran.
