TEHRAN (FNA)- Iranian and Bangladeshi officials signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on promotion of cinematic cooperation between the two countries.
The MoU was signed by Managing Director of Iran's Youth Cinema Nasser Bakideh and Manager of Bangladesh's International Short and Independent Film Festival Norwel Rashed Chodhouri in Dhaka.
The MoU was inked in a bid to expand cinematic cooperation, facilitate introduction of the two countries' cinema in the short film section through well-principled, cohesive and constructive relations and reinvigorate Islamic unity between the two countries' artists.
Based on the MoU, the two sides are due to cooperate in introducing prominent Iranian and Bangladeshi academics and artists to attend juries panels in artistic events, holding workshops and lectures and providing facilities for young artists to get acquainted with the cinematic achievements of the other side.
The 2010 edition of Dhaka's International Short and Independent Film Festival screened 29 short films directed by young Iranian filmmakers.
The films were produced by the Iranian Young Cinema Society (IYCS) and directed by filmmakers in different Iranian cities.
Mohammad Davoudi's This House is not Black, Akbar Torabpour's Lollipop, Mohsen Nabavi's Aquarium, Arash Anisi's Little Hands, Mohammad-Baqer Jafarzadeh's Symphony of Crows and Armin Isarian's Dinner Time are among the films that were screened in the event.
The 11th International Short and Independent Film Festival of Dhaka kicked off on March 4 and ran until March 12 in the capital city of Bangladesh.
Organized by the Bangladesh Short Film Forum, the festival was held on the theme of 'Free Cinema, Free Expression'.
