The issue was raised in a meeting between Head of Turkey's state-run radio and TV (TRT) Ebrahim Shahin and his Iranian counterpart Ezzatollah Zarqami.
At the meeting, Shahin voiced pleasure in his visit to Iran and the Islamic Republic of Iran Broadcasting (IRIB), and said he is pleased with the technical and production capabilities of the IRIB.
"This visit is a very appropriate opportunity for us who seek to use the very good potentials and capacities of the Islamic Republic of Iran's national media," the TRT president stressed.
Noting that good and sustainable cultural relations between Iran and Turkey prevent the two countries' tendency for purchasing and broadcasting media products of the western countries, he urged for strengthening media cooperation between the two countries along with cooperation in other fields.
Zarqami, for his part, referred to the common interests and ample cultural and historical commonalities of the two great nations, and described media as an important means of further intimacy among nations.
He also underlined the need for the expansion of activities in producing joint radio and TV programs by Tehran and Ankara.
