"Resolution 1929 of the UN Security Council is not a new invention of the Americans, but it is a continuation of the project for weakening the sovereignty of the Middle-Eastern countries, specially Iran, to gain control over them," Advisor to the Head of Iran's Civil Aviation Organization (CAO) Reza Jafarzadeh said in an interview with FNA on Saturday.
Commenting on the sanctions imposed on Iran-bound air cargos, Jafarzadeh said, "Air sanctions are the minor part of the scenario drawn and practiced (against Iran) during the last three decades."
He added that a number of western countries are seeking to seize control over Middle-Eastern and the Persian Gulf littoral states and justify their military presence through such slogans as campaign against terrorism.
The advisor also stated that such moves will remain futile due to the resistance by the Iranian nation as well as the positive positions taken and stated by a number of heads of state.
The UN Security Council (UNSC) on Wednesday passed a sanctions resolution against Iran with 12 votes while the non-permanent UN Security Council member states - Brazil and Turkey - voted against and Lebanon abstained from voting.
