Omani Deputy PM Underscores Iran's Important Regional, Int'l Role

TEHRAN (FNA)- Omani Deputy Prime Minister for Cabinet Affairs Fahd bin Mahmud Al Said hailed the significant role played by Iran on the regional and international scenes, and called for the further bolstering of the bilateral relations between the two Persian Gulf states.



Al Said made the remarks in a meeting with Iranian Foreign Minister Manouchehr Mottaki in Masqat, where he stressed that the bilateral relations between Iran and his country are dominated by a set of fully strong principles, and added that "the two countries' policies are based on transparency".

He also expressed optimism about the prospects of Iran-Oman economic ties, but meantime, underlined the necessity for pursuing and implementing the agreements made during the 13th meeting of the two countries' Joint Economic Cooperation Commission in Masqat.

For his part, the Iranian top diplomat briefed the Omani official on the positive achievements of the 13th meeting of the two countries' Joint Commission on Economic Cooperation, and lauded the age-old and comprehensive relations between Tehran and Masqat.

Mottaki visited Oman on Monday to participate in a meeting of the two countries' Joint Economic Cooperation Commission in Masqat and discuss a further expansion of cooperation between the two countries.

The 13th meeting of Iran-Oman Joint Commission on Economic Cooperation was headed by Mottaki and Omani Commerce and Industry Minister Maqbul bin Ali bin Sultan.
