Analyst Underlines Significance of Iran-Indonesia Ties

TEHRAN (FNA)- The cultural and scientific relations between Iran and Indonesia will foil West's negative propaganda against Iran, an Indonesian analyst said on Sunday.

"The cultural and scientific ties between Iran and Indonesia as well as the interactions between the two countries' elites has proved effective in defusing the West's negative propaganda against Iran," prominent Indonesian writer and analyst Mohammad al-Kaaf said in an interview with FNA.

He further called for the expansion of such ties between the two Muslim nations, saying that the measure would bring Muslims, including Shiites and Sunnis, much closer and help promote unity in the world of Islam.

"The two countries' relations entered a new phase after a visit to Indonesia by Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad.

"After the two sides concluded different Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) and developed relations and facilitated exchange of visits between the two countries, a large number of Indonesian professors and academic intellectuals traveled to Iran to attend study courses," al-Kaaf reminded.

He described establishment of Iran's Cultural House in Indonesia's accredited universities as an indication of the Indonesian nation and elites' deep interest in the Islamic Republic.
