Chairperson's Profile:

H.E. Louis Lobong Lojore was born between 1962-1965. He holds a Diploma in Philosophy. He was Brigadier General in the SPLA. During the liberation struggle, he served as the Secretary of SSRRA for tthe greater Kapoeta and also as Commissioner for greater Kapoeta. He also previously served as Deputy Governor for the greater Equatoria. After the war, he worked as the Chief of the National Intelligence and Security Service for the Southern Sector. Besides his responsibilities at the Commission, he is also the SPLM State Chairman for Eastern Equatoria, Torit.

 

Functions:

 

The Southern Sudan Peace Commission performs the following functions and duties:

 

  1. To consolidate the CPA
  2. To promote peaceful co-existence amongst the people of Southern Sudan
  3. To advise the government on matters related to peace. 

 

Structure:

 

The Commission is comprised of the following administrative units:

  5. Directorate of Administration and Finance
  6. Directorate of Communication and Public Relations
  7. Directorate of Planning and Research
  8. Directorate of Gender

 

Projects and Programs: 

 

  1. Peace and reconciliation between conflicting communities
  2. Development of early warning systems
  3. SSPC campaign for peaceful elections in Southern Sudan
  4. Establishment of Southern Sudan Peace Resource Centre
