The polling days for Sudan’s first multiparty
election in 25 years took place 11 –13
April 2010 with a two day extension until
15 April 2010. The counting of ballots began
at all polling stations the morning of 15
April 2010 and lasted for several days. NEC
reports that 65% of registered voters took
part in polling.....

elections mandated by the 2005 Comprehensive
Peace Agreement, the National Elections Commission
(NEC) held a press conference in Friendship
Hall in Khartoum to de-scribe their comprehensive

On Tuesday 16 March 2010, the National Elections
Commission received its first delivery of
ballot materials. 35,000 ballot papers, weighing
100 metric tonnes, arrived at NECs Khartoum
warehouses. This was the first of four deliveries
of National Assembly-level ballots from printers
in South Africa. ....

registration of over 16.4 million voters throughout
Sudan from Nov 1 through Dec 7, 2009. This
is 79% of just over 20 million eligible voters
determined by the 2008 census exercise. World
bank estimates Sudan’s total population
to be roughly 40 million...
