According to the CPA Part III, Function of Southern Sudan DDR Commission is to plan, manage and implement the DDR programmes in Southern Sudan.
The overarching objective of the DDR process is to contribute to creating an enabling environment to human security and to support post-peace-agreement social stabilization across the Sudan, particularly war affected areas.
There are 180,000 DDR candidates in Sudan that will undergo DDR process, 90,000 from SPLA and 90,000 from SAF to be disarmed, demobilized and reintegrated into the community and these are:
Although Southern Sudan DDR Commission has always considered public information critical in it planning and implementation, so far it has managed to produce only tow brochures because it lacks adequate fund. One brochure is called Disarmament, Demobilization and Reintegration in Southern Sudan and another on HIV/AIDs and Ex Combatants in Southern Sudan. A number of posters were printed. All publications are out of stock.
