Hon. Kawac Makuei Mayar Chairperson

Chairperson's Profile:

H.E. Kawac Makuei Mayar joined Anyanya I in 1963. He rose through the ranks and had become a major by the signing of the Addis Ababa Accord. He was among the original initiators of SPLA in 1983.

Functions:

The Southern Sudan War Veterans Commission performs the following functions and duties:

1. To organize war veterans in Southern Sudan;
2. Support the war veterans socially and economically;
3. Build the capacity of war veterans; and
4. Establish cooperative shops for the war veterans.

The Commission is comprised of the following administrative units:

2. Directorate of Administration and Finance
3. Directorate of Cultural Affairs
4. Directorate of Social Welfare
5. Directorate of Trade and Cooperatives
6. Directorate of Public Relations
