Iranian Security Official:

Iran-Russia Strategic Partnership Guarantees Regional Stability

TEHRAN (FNA)- The strategic partnership and cooperation between Tehran and Moscow guarantees the stability and security of the region, Undersecretary of Iran's Supreme National Security Council (SNSC) Ali Baqeri stressed on Monday.

Baqeri made the remarks in a meeting with his Russian counterpart Yogni Lukianov in Tehran, where he stressed the common opportunities and threats facing the two countries on the international scene.

Also during the meeting, Lukianov said strategic cooperation with the Islamic Republic of Iran in different arenas is highly important for Russia.

He also blasted the West's double-standard approach and attitudes, and said the western states allege to be engaged in a fight against terrorism, but they support terrorist groups in Syria.

Baqeri had earlier in a visit to Moscow stressed the important positions of Tehran and Moscow in the world, and said the two countries always hold constant consultations on regional and international developments.

Baqeri said that the Islamic Republic and Russia have built consensus on regional and international developments.

Tehran and Moscow are aware of plots by foreign powers regarding regional issues and have carried out extensive consultations over the recent months, he said in the Russian capital, Moscow, in January.

Iran and Russia are two strong neighboring countries which enjoy a special position in the international arena. They held constant consultations on key regional and global issues in the past, he added.
