Envoy Reiterates Iran's Support for Peace, Stability in Region

TEHRAN (FNA)- Support for the establishment of peace and security in the Persian Gulf is a priority for Iran's foreign policy, Iran's Ambassador to Muscat Hossein Noosh-Abadi said on Tuesday.

Elaborating on the results of the first meeting of Iran-Oman Strategic Consultations Committee held in the Omani capital on Saturday and Sunday, Noosh-Abadi said Iran believes that cooperation and coordination among the regional states, Iran and Oman in particular, on regional and international issues and issues related to the Islamic world will guarantee further security and stability.

"Accordingly, maintaining peace, stability and tranquility in the region is our steady and permanent policy so that the entire (regional) nations reach growth and advancement under such conditions," the envoy reiterated.

Earlier, Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister for Arab and African Affairs Hossein Amir-Abdollahian in a meeting with Oman's Foreign Minister Yousef Bin Alawi Bin Abdulla in Muscat reiterated Tehran's strong opposition to foreign meddling in the region, and stressed that Iran is in pursuit of the establishment of security in all the regional states.

As regards Tehran's stance on security of the Persian Gulf strategic region, the Iranian official said that Iran has always advocated the region's welfare and stability.

"The Islamic Republic of Iran considers a collective duty to guarantee security of the Persian Gulf given importance of the vital main route of the energy supply."

He said that certain parties however have not taken the issue into consideration, trying to put the region in crisis through their hasty and unwise action.

Amir Abdollahian said that the Islamic Republic of Iran will not allow certain parties to foment unrest and escalate tension in the region, adding that security is the integral part of the region.
