Iranian Greco-Roman Wrestler Wins Olympic Gold Medal
TEHRAN (FNA)- Iran's five-time world champion Hamid Sourian won the country's first gold medal in the London 2012 Olympic Games after defeating Azerbaijan's Greco-Roman Wrestler in the 55kg category Roshan Bayramov in the final match Sunday night.
Sourian had a wonderful start in the London games and won wrestlers from Hungary, Kazakhstan and Denmark before meeting Bayramov in the final match.
The 26-year-old Iranian genius won both times 2-0 and 1-0, respectively.
Sourian's medal is not just Iran's first gold in the London 2012 Olympics, but the country's first-ever Greco-Roman wrestling gold medal in Olympic games throughout the history.
A more than $165,000 state reward is waiting for Sourian as soon as he comes back home.
