Iran, Afghanistan Holding Women Friendship Week

TEHRAN (FNA)- Iranian and Afghan officials attended a ceremony in Iran's Northeastern province of Khorassan Razavi on Monday to mark the start of the two nations' Women Friendship Week.



Addressing the ceremony in the provincial capital city of Mashhad, Afghan Deputy Minister for Women's Affairs Mojgan Mostafavi underlined the importance of Women Friendship Week for the two countries' females, and said, "Afghanistan's women ministry initiated the Friendship Week between the Iranian and Afghan women" due to the same importance.

She also stressed that holding joint programs between the Iranian and Afghan women will make the two countries' women and the Afghan female refugees living in Iran familiar with each other.

Also, Sousan Safaverdi, an official in charge of the Iranian presidential office's family affairs department, referred to the two nations' abundant commonalities, and said the intimate relations between Iran and Afghanistan are not bound to the two countries' geographical borders.

Iran and Afghanistan enjoy expanding ties and cooperation and observers believe that the good achievements gained in area of their mutual cooperation should be deemed as a result of the efforts made by the two countries' leaders.

Iran is one of the most important donors to Afghanistan which has kept its promises to help to the reconstruction of the war-hit country.

Iran has built some roads, power transmission lines, and border stations, among the other infrastructure projects which would better link the two nations.
