Iran, Kazakhstan Underline Importance of Expanding Cultural Ties

TEHRAN (FNA)- Iranian Ambassador to Astana Qorban Seifi and Kazakh Culture and Information Minister Darkhan Mynbai stressed the necessity of the expansion of cultural relations between the two countries.

During the meeting in Astana on Tuesday, Seifi underscored the Iranian and Kazakh presidents' firm resolve to develop bilateral ties in all fields, and said, "At present, the necessary grounds have been prepared for the development and expansion of cultural cooperation in all spheres."

Mynbai, for his part, welcomed the two countries' cultural cooperation, and underlined the existence of abundant arenas for such cooperation.

Iran has initiated massive diplomatic steps to expand its ties with the neighboring and the Central Asian states.

President Ahmadinejad's administration has in recent years paid special attention to Tehran's economic, cultural and political cooperation with Kazakhstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan and Kyrgyzstan.

Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, who visited Astana in June 2011 to attend a summit meeting of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO), met with his Kazakh counterpart Nursultan Nazarbayev, and stressed Iran's resolve to expand mutual cooperation with Kazakhstan.
