UN Chief Leaves Iran after Meeting with Islamic Republic Officials

At the press conference, Ban Ki-moon praised Tehran's positive and constructive initiatives in the region
Iran is famous for its efforts to create a nuclear-free zone in the Middle-East, the UN Chief said
"Iran enjoys an ancient human civilization and a long historical antecedent and as one of the founders of the UN is famous for pursuing its key role in its initiative, specially creating a Middle-East region free from any type of nuclear weapons and the Dialogue among Civilizations," Ban Ki-moon said before leaving Tehran
In Tehran, Ban Ki-moon met with Supreme Leader Ayatollah Seyed Ali Khamenei, President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, Parliament Speaker Ali Larijani and other high-ranking officials
The UN chief arrived in Tehran Wednesday night to attend the 16th NAM summit
Ban Ki-moon also said that the NAM presidency has created an opportunity for Iran to play a modifying and highly constructive role at the international level
Elsewhere, the UN chief thanked Iran for its highly positive role in sheltering the Afghan refugees during conflicts and wars in Afghanistan
