Deputy FM in Dubai to Attend Iran-UAE Joint Consular Commission Meeting
TEHRAN (FNA)- Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister for Consular, Parliamentary and Expatriates' Affairs Hassan Qashqavi arrived in Dubai on Tuesday to participate in the 7th Iran-UAE Consular Commission meeting.
Qashqavi, heading a high-ranking delegation, arrived in Dubai on Tuesday afternoon at the official invitation of the UAE government to attend the Consular Commission meeting and convey a message from Iranian Foreign Minister Ali Akbar Salehi to his Emirati counterpart Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahayan.
Upon arrival in Dubai, Qashqavi described the relations between Iran and the UAE as good and strong, and said, "The presence of the two countries' high-ranking delegations in each other's capitals shows the two governments' will to strengthen their bilateral relations."
Iran is a significant trade partner for the UAE, with trade volume between Iran and the emirate of Dubai alone estimated at about $10 billion a year. The officials of both countries make reciprocal visits to further expand Tehran-Doha ties and cooperation.
In a surprise visit to the UAE in July, Salehi held talks with top Emirati officials.
He "discussed ways of enhancing bilateral relations" and "matters of bilateral interest" with Deputy Prime Minister Sheikh Mansur bin Zayed al-Nahayan.
