Iran Defeat Indonesia in World Cup Qualifiers

TEHRAN (FNA)- Iran's football squad beat Indonesia 3-0 in the third round of the 2014 World Cup qualifiers on Friday.



Iranian National Football Team took a firm first step in an Asia world cup qualified home game against Indonesia, finding its way towards the next phase of the Brazil 2014 World Cup.

The game was played in the presence of over 70,000 Iranian football fans at the 100,000-seat football field of Tehran's Azadi Sports Complex.

Iran beat the guest team three-nil to reach the third phase of its qualifier games with two consecutive wins and six points from two games.

Iran's Captain Javad Nekounam scored the game's first and second goals at 63rd and 74th minutes of the game and midfielder substitute Andranik Teimourian scored the Iranian side's third and last goal at the 87th minute of the game.

Iran's arrange in this game was 4-3-3 and the team began the game aggressively and had the ball and the field during the first half of the game as well, in which Khosro Heidari organized some attacks from the right side and Gholam-Reza Reza'ie from the left side, but the determined defense of the Indonesians and their good goalkeeper Marcos always saved them during that half, and the players left the field having scored no goals.

The Indonesians' efforts were focused on blocking the path of the Iranian forwards at the center of the field, and to launch counter-attacks against the gate of Iran's goalkeeper Seyed Mahdi Rahmati.

Sending the ball to the center of the field from the sides was the main tactic of the Iranian side during the first half, but the readiness of the Indonesian goalkeeper Marcos Harrison Rhihina and the tall defense players of the team blocked the path of the entire Iranian attacks in that half.

The white clad Iranian national players continued their first half strategy, centering the ball from the sides, till a station shot at 53rd minute was turned into the game's first goal with Captain Nekounam's beautiful header.

Mohammad-Reza Khalatbari and Gholam Reza Reza'ie could have increased the number of Iran's goals at minutes 54 and 55, but excellent reactions of the Indonesian goalkeeper Marcos Harrison blocked the path of their good shots.
Iran and the game's second goal was got similarly from a station shot from the right side and another nice header of the Ousasona midfielder, Captain Nekounam at 74th Minute of the game, to make the Iranians take a breath of relief, ensured of their team's imminent victory.

The Indonesian national players organized scattered attacks after receiving the second goal on the Iranian gate rapidly, but it was the Iranians who scored their third goal on a rapid counter-attack from the right side and the eye-catching shot of Teimourian, to begin the 3rd phase of their Asian World Cup qualifiers having scored many times during the previous phase.

Bahrain and Qatar are the other two teams in Group E. Iran will take on Qatar in Doha on Sept. 6 while Indonesia will host Bahrain in the same group.
