Iranian Director to Shoot Feature Film in Azerbaijan
TEHRAN (FNA)- Iran's renowned film director Yadollah Samadi is due to shoot a new musical feature film based on an operetta by great Azerbaijani composer Uzeyir Hajibayli.
Reports said members of the cast will include actors from both Iran and Azerbaijan. Samadi has tripped to Baku to hold talks about the film. He made media remarks about the film today.
The film will be called "Mashadi Ibad".
"An Iranian actor will play the role of Mashadi Ibad. People's Artist of Azerbaijan Afaq Bashirqizi will play the role of housemaid Sanam, People's Artist Rasim Balayev will play the role of Rustam bay. We have already made some trials. The pieces of mugam music in the film will be performed by People's Artist of Azerbaijan Alim Gasimov, APA reported.
Majority of shootings will be carried out in Azerbaijan with the rest parts to be shot in a pavilion in Iran," the Iranian film director said.
The shooting to begin in March will last three months, Azeri news site News. Az reported.
The film will be shot in Azeri language. It will later be dubbed in Persian and released in two languages.
The music to be played in the film will be performed by Azerbaijani musicians. The producers plan to send the film to foreign festivals once it is shot.
The film aims to make Uzeyir Hajibayli known in Iran. Iran will provide all funds to shoot the film.
