Iran, Singapore Urge Diplomacy to Settle Regional Tensions
TEHRAN (FNA)- Iranian Foreign Minister Ali Akbar Salehi and his Singaporean counterpart K. Shanmugam in a meeting on Tuesday stressed the necessity of using diplomatic means to end the regional conflicts.
In a meeting on the sidelines of the 67th UN General Assembly annual meeting, the two officials discussed international and regional topics, and underlined the necessity of concentration on diplomacy and elimination of tension in the region.
Iranian and Singaporean officials have recently increased their contacts in a move to boost bilateral trade ties and cooperation.
In a meeting with Singaporean accredited ambassador to Tehran last year, Salehi lauded the close relations between Iran and Singapore, and underlined that Tehran attaches much importance to its ties with Singapore.
"Singapore is an important country for Iran, and on the other hand Iran is a reliable partner for Singapore, given its special place in the Middle-East and the region," Salehi said at the time.
