Supreme Leader: Iran Not to Bow to Pressures

TEHRAN (FNA)- Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyed Ali Khamenei stressed the necessity for Iran to become stronger in different fields to stand against the plots hacthed by enemies, and said the country will not bow to the western pressures.

Ayatollah Khamenei made the remarks on Wednesday night in a meeting with North Khorassan province's clergies, stressing that today, too, like the early days of Islam when the entire various parties (Ahzaab) had united against the Muslims, "The entire enemies of the Iranian nation at the international and regional levels have put hand in hand aimed at breaking the resolute resistance of this nation."

The leader added, "Yet, just as the believers in that war (at the advent of Islam) did not get intimidated, or hesitate the slightest bit, the Iranian nation, too, by trying to increase their power and their capabilities, are standing firm against the pressures."

The Leader of the Islamic Revolution added, "In that 'Ahzaab' war (during the Prophet's era) a group of hypocrites and weak believers were reprimanding the pious believers and demanding them to compromise, and to alter their policies."

His eminence said, "Yet, the true followers answered them: We are neither surprised, nor intimidate due to these pressures, and we would keep on paving our path."

Ayatollah Khamenei emphasized, "The pressures would not loosen so long as we have not bowed to the enemies' demands, leaving one way before us only, and that is the need for getting stronger in various dimensions."

His eminence said that the manifestation of getting stronger of the clergies is studying well as the scientists do. And acquiring deep insight about the religious teachings aimed at achieving higher levels of scientific knowledge, reiterating, "Side by side with acquiring scientific insight, the clergies must remain highly attached to religious values, be ethically pure, perform the religiously proposed rituals in addition to the religious obligations, and recite the Glorious Qur'an regularly."

The Supreme Leader of Islamic Revolution considered having intimate relations with the youth and encountering them with a smile, as well as answering their questions properly and meeting their intellectual needs are among the other duties of the clergies, adding, "The clergies and prayer imams must in collaboration with the Basij voluntary militia forces boost the cultural activities at the mosques and have a dynamic presence at cultural centers, propagating the religious teachings and the elegant manners of the Infallible Imams (P)."
