Iranian Envoy, Georgian Minister Stress Expansion of Cultural Ties

TEHRAN (FNA)- Tehran's Ambassador to Tbilisi Majid Saber and Georgian Minister of Culture and Monument Protection Guram Odisharia on Tuesday underlined the necessity for the further expansion of cultural relations between the two countries.

During the meeting also attended by Iran's Cultural Attaché in Georgia Ehsan Khazayee, the Georgian minister described cultural interactions between the two countries as an irrefutable feature of their relations, and said his ministry is prepared to improve this cooperation.

"There have been remarkable cultural activities and measures between Iran and Georgia," he said, and added, "the more these activities are expanded, the more assured the friendship between the two nations will be."

The Iranian envoy, for his part, pointed to the agreements between the two countries in the fields of culture and art, and voiced Iran's preparedness to further improve mutual cooperation with Georgia in these fields.

In September, Director of Iran's Cultural Heritage, Tourism and Handicrafts Organization (CHTHO) Hassan Moussavi voiced Tehran's willingness to expand mutual cooperation with Georgia in the field of Tourism.

Moussavi raised the issue in a meeting with Head of Georgian National Tourism Agency Maia Sidamonidze on the sidelines of the International Conference on Silk Road in Baku, Azerbaijan at the time.

The Islamic Republic of Iran is willing to broaden relations and cooperation in tourism sector with Georgia, Moussavi underscored, adding that grounds for the expansion of tourism cooperation are well-prepared.

To attain the goal, Tehran is ready increase number of air flights between the two capitals, he said.

Georgian official, for his part said his country attached importance to expansion of tourism cooperation with Iran as the number of Iranian tourists to Georgia has increased dramatically.
