Speaker Confident about Syria's Ability to Overcome Crisis

TEHRAN (FNA)- Iranian Parliament Speaker Ali Larijani expressed confidence that the Syrian nation and government will be able to overcome the existing crisis and restore peace and security in Syria.

"Syrian nation and government would for sure overcome the problems," Larijani said in a message to Syrian Parliament Speaker Mohammed Jihad al-Laham on Thursday.

Larijani also expressed hope that security and stability will be fully restored and violence and conflicts will be halted immediately in Syria.

Elsewhere, he praised the efforts made by Syria to secure the release of 48 Iranian pilgrims abducted by rebel groups in the Arab country.

"Iranian nation and government are thankful to them for their help in releasing the kidnapped pilgrims."

On August 4, armed insurgents in Syria had kidnapped 48 Iranian pilgrims who were traveling on a bus from Damascus International Airport to the shrine of Hazrat Zainab (AS) on the outskirts of Damascus.

The 48 Iranian pilgrims arrived at Mehrabad International Airport on Thursday evening.

They were released in a swap deal between the Syrian government and armed opposition groups.
