Leader Lauds Iranian Weightlifters' Performance in 2011 Championships

TEHRAN (FNA)- Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyed Ali Khamenei congratulated the country's young weightlifters for their victories in the 37th World Junior Weightlifting Championships.

"I cordially thank the Iranian young weightlifters who became the world champion and made the Iranian nation happy," Ayatollah Khamenei said in a message to the Iranian athletes on Thursday.

Iranian athletes have won two more medals on the last day of the competitions in Malaysia to lead Iran to the crown of the games for the first time.

Iranian Bahador Molaei's gold and Alireza Kazeminejad's silver medals in the +105 category contributed to Iran's medal bonanza by taking the country's point tally to an unassailable 577.

China came second with 538 points and Russia stood third with 517 points.
