Addressing a group of Basij elites in Iran's Southern city of Shiraz, Naqdi pointed to Iran's rising position and status in the region and the world despite enemies' efforts to undermine the country's influence, and stated that presence of 122 world leaders in the Non-Aligned Movement (NAM) summit in Tehran and participation of hundreds of religious scholars in Iranian meetings showed part of the country's capabilities in the region.
"No policy in the region can advance without Iran's presence and view," he noted.
The 16th NAM summit was held in Tehran from August 26 to 31.
Some 51 countries sent their high-ranking leaders to the 16th heads-of-state summit of the NAM, while over 150 delegations from the world countries and bodies attended the other meetings of the bloc in Tehran.
In relevant remarks in December, Iranian Parliament Speaker Ali Larijani said Iran enjoys such a powerful and vast regional influence that it cannot be ignored by the world powers.
"In the past, Iran had been known as a US-backed power … but today it has reached a point that no world power can ignore its influence in the region," Larijani said, addressing an open session of the parliament at the time.
"Today, Iran has achieved a scientific and technological power that the West has resorted to adventurist moves against the Iranian nuclear and missile academy in the last few years to hinder this growing scientific trend," the Iranian speaker said.
