Iran Ready to Bolster Cultural Relations with Thailand

TEHRAN (FNA)- Iranian Cultural Attaché to Bangkok Mostafa Najjarianzadeh underlined Tehran's readiness to strengthen cultural relations and cooperation with Thailand, specially in religious fields.

Najjarianzadeh made the remarks in a meeting with Chief of the Muslims in Thailand Asis Pitakkumpol (Abdul Aziz Bin Ismail), saying that Tehran is ready to help boost cultural relations cooperation between Iran and Thailand government and in particular its religious institutes and communities.

Najjarianzadeh conveyed Iranian officials' message to this religious leader and thanked Thailand king, government and Pitakkumpol himself as Sheikholeslam of the region for their attention to the situation of Muslims.

He also said that Muslims are proud of Iranian nation's resistance toward hegemonic powers, Chief of the Muslims in Thailand.

"Iran is a developed Islamic powerful country; I know well that the Iranian officials do their best to progress forward based on Islamic values," he added.

Iran and Thailand's top diplomats in a meeting on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly meeting in New York in 2011 had explored avenues for the further expansion of relations and cooperation.

During the meeting in September, Iran's Foreign Minister Ali Akbar Salehi underlined Tehran's resolve to further expand relations with Thailand, and voiced Iran's preparedness to promote the level of cooperation with Bangkok in all the various political, economic, trade, cultural and scientific grounds.

He further cited the two countries' coordination at international bodies and circles as among other areas for Tehran-Bangkok cooperation.

He also described exchange of delegations at different levels as a constructive measure for expediting development of bilateral relations and cooperation.

Also during the meeting, the Thai foreign minister underlined the two countries' cordial ties, and asked for the bolstering and boosting of Tehran-Bangkok cooperation through continued and regular political consultations and follow-ups on the agreements made by the two states' joint economic cooperation commission and consular cooperation committee.
