Rockets Fired by Syria Militants Hit Lebanon

TEHRAN (FNA)- At least one person was killed and several others have sustained wounds in a rocket attack carried out by militants in Syria against neighboring Lebanon's border town of Hermel.

The militants fighting against the Syrian government fired 12 rockets into the Northeastern Lebanese town of Hermel in Bekaa Valley on Tuesday.

The attack caused heavy damage to some residential buildings, the Lebanese army said.

They added that several farms were set ablaze in the wake of the attack, Alalam reported.

There has been an upsurge in such assaults after the Syrian army managed to inflict major losses on foreign-sponsored militants in the country, gaining a series of military victories in its fight against the armed groups.

Foreign-sponsored militancy in Syria, which erupted in March 2011, has claimed the lives of many people, including large numbers of Syrian soldiers and security personnel.
