UNESCO Awards Young Iranian Scientist

TEHRAN (FNA)- The United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) awarded its prestigious prize to a young Iranian scientist.

Young Iranian Scientist Atieh Kazzemi Mojarrad won UNESCO's prize for her study on sustainable development of biosphere reserves through the promotion of key ecosystem services.

UNESCO's Man and the Biosphere (MAB) program grants awards of up to $5,000 every year since 1989.

UNESCO intends to encourage young researchers to undertake work on ecosystems, natural resources and biodiversity.

Biosphere reserves are areas that promote innovative solutions to issues of conservation, ecology and sustainable development recognized as such by UNESCO's MAB Program.
