Official: Azeri Businessmen Keen to Invest in Iran's Projects

TEHRAN (FNA)- Azeri businessmen have voiced readiness to invest in Iran's development projects, an Iranian official said.

"Participation of 3 Azeri trade delegations in Iran's international exhibition last month and the determination of 3 other Azeri delegations to attend an upcoming exhibition in the near future are only examples of the positive attitude for investment in Iran," Iran's Economic Attaché to Baku Faraj Shahidi said.

He noted that a noticeable number of Azeri investors have already announced their readiness to attend the upcoming East Azarbaijan International Investment Opportunities Conference in Iran.

Iran has recently enhanced efforts to boost political, economic, security and cultural ties and cooperation with the regional and neighboring countries, specially the Central Asian states.

In October, Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad traveled to Baku to attend the 12th Summit of the Economic Cooperation Organization. The summit was held at the Heydar Aliyev Center in Baku.

The Iranian and Azeri presidents met on the sidelines of ECO Summit, where the two leaders underlined the need for rigid efforts to expand bilateral relations and widen mutual cooperation.
