TEHRAN (FNA)- Petrochemical plants are leading in energy efficiency, director of planning and development at the National Petrochemical Company (NPC) said.
Ramezan Owladi said in recent years, petrochemical plants have had great breakthroughs in optimizing fuel consumption through cooperation with Iranian Fuel Conservation Company (IFCO) in order to standardize fuel consumption.
Owladi added that energy conservation is one of the top priorities of petrochemical plants.
Head of the National Petrochemical Company (NPC) Abdolhosain Bayat said earlier that the share of the Islamic Republic of Iran of the Middle East's production of petrochemicals would hit 41 percent at the end of sixth five-year development plan in 2020.
Bayat added production capacity of petrochemical products will to rise by 55 million tons per year in 2020 and will turn the country into one of main producers of petrochemicals in the region.
He added building 33 petrochemical plants is another target of NPC during the five year term noting the company's ambitious is to be the top producer of petrochemical products in 2025 in the Middle East.
