"The Islamic Republic of Iran has played a significant role in resolving the regional problems and has taken effective steps to settle the Syrian crisis," Berri said during the meeting in Beirut on Tuesday.
Roknabadi, for his part, underscored Iran's efforts to settle the Syrian crisis, specially arrangement of bilateral meetings between the Syrian government and the opposition as well as multilateral and international conferences, including the upcoming 'Friends of Syria' conference in Tehran on Wednesday.
"The Islamic Republic of Iran has made its best efforts to settle the crisis peacefully and since day one of developments in Syria, it has always stressed the necessity for talks and negotiations to settle this problem," he added.
Iran has repeatedly laid emphasis on finding a political solution to the crisis in Syria through cooperation with the regional and international actors, including those invited to the 'Friends of Syria' conference in Tehran on Wednesday.
"The main goal of the meeting is helping the idea of finding a political solution to (the crisis in) Syria," Foreign Ministry Spokesman Seyed Abbas Araqchi said in his weekly press conference in Tehran today.
"All countries as well as all the regional and international organizations which can help to (the implementation of) this solution have been invited (to the conference)," he said, expressing the hope that discussions at the Tehran conference could help both the Tehran and the Geneva meetings move towards success.
Noting that Iran expects participation of officials and representatives from 40 countries in the Friends of Syria conference in Tehran, Araqchi announced that a number of "special guests" have also been invited to the meeting.
