FM Reiterates Growing Power of Anti-Israel Resistance Front in Region
TEHRAN (FNA)- Iranian Foreign Minister Ali Akbar Salehi stressed the importance of resistance for defending the region against Zionist aggressions, and praised the power of the anti-Israel resistance front in the region.
Salehi made the remarks in a message to Secretary-General of Lebanese Movement Seyed Hassan Nasrallah on the occasion of the anniversary of the liberation of Southern Lebanon from Israeli occupation in 2000. The message was conveyed to Nasrallah by Iranian Ambassador to Beirut Qazanfar Roknabadi on Wednesday.
"Beyond doubt the great victory achieved by the resistance movement brought grandeur and high prestige for the Islamic world and was a turning point in the history of the Muslims' campaign against the usurper enemies," the Iranian foreign minister said.
In similar remarks last week, Roknabadi underlined the importance of the anti-Israel resistance for defending the region against Zionist aggressions.
Roknabadi made the remarks addressing a group of professors, officials and students of the Management and Economics College of Lebanon University in the Southern Nabatieh city.
"The victory of resistance in 2000 is not only regarded as Lebanon's victory, but also a triumph for all Muslims and the world's oppressed people," the Iranian envoy said.
He noted that not only the Israeli army was defeated in 2000, but the Zionists' plots also failed.
Roknabadi pointed to Israel's heavy defeat in Southern Lebanon, and said, "An army which considered itself as unbeatable came to its knees against the will of the brave men of Lebanon's resistance …"
"With this victory the strategy of resistance was set as the only way for liberation of the occupied territories and it proved that dialogue and negotiations with the Zionist enemy is useless while there is no way other than resistance for the liberation of the occupied territories," the Iranian envoy said.
