DM Deplores US Congress Resolution in Support of Israeli Attack on Iran
TEHRAN (FNA)- Iranian Defense Minister Brigadier General Ahmad Vahidi on Wednesday lashed out at the US congress for approving a resolution in support of an Israeli attack on Iran, and said the decision is a flagrant violation of international norms and criteria.
"Recently, the US congress has worked on a resolution to support Israel in the event of an attack on Iran that is of no value to Iran," Vahidi told FNA here in Tehran today.
He pointed to the long history of the US blind support for the Zionist regime of Israel and added, "But, the fact that the US congress has approved this resolution in blatant violation of all international principles and law means encouraging and supporting the aggressions of the holy Quds occupying regimes."
Vahidi also said that the resolution fosters militarism and signifies the poor cultural level of those who have approved it.
Last week, the US House of Representatives Foreign Affairs Committee approved legislation, the "Nuclear Iran Prevention Act of 2013", seeking to impose tighter sanctions on Iran and affirm its support for Israel.
Later, the US Senate unanimously approved a resolution affirming America's firm opposition to Iran's nuclear program, and pledging full support for Israel in the event of an Israeli military strike against Iran's nuclear facilities.
