TEHRAN (FNA)- Tajikistan's President Emomali Rakhmon reiterated on Sunday that Nowrouz celebrations play an important role in familiarizing different world nations with the Persian-language-speaking countries' cultures.

Rakhmon said that Nowrouz has returned to its forgotten position and that the world nations respect this international day.

Addressing the third International Nowrouz Celebrations in Dushanbe, Tajikistan, he said that Nowrouz festival plays effective role in familiarizing various world nations with the cultures of the Persian-speaking countries.

The 3rd International Nowrouz Celebrations started in Dushanbe, Tajikistan, on Sunday with Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad and his Tajik, Afghan and Pakistani counterparts in attendance.

In the opening of the ceremonies on Sunday, Iranian, Afghan, Pakistani and Tajik presidents Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, Hamid Karzai, Asif Ali Zardari and Emomali Rakhmon stressed the importance of strengthening amicable relations and bonds.

Iran first organized the International Nowrouz Celebrations. The second International Nowrouz Celebrations were held in Tehran in 2011. The third Nowrouz festivities are underway in Dushanbe over a proposal by the Tajik leader.
